The Glacial Block

Frozen Section Embedding Device

  • The Glacial Block embedding device is used for mounting tissue in preparation for Mohs micrographic surgery with precision and accuracy everytime. Save on supplies an time with a consistent and standardized device.

  • Step 1: Fill well with mounting medium, ensuring that the entire piece of tissue is covered. Fill slightly above the rim of the well to prevent air bubbles.

    Step 2: Prepare the chuck by placing it at room temperature in the chuck holder, ensuring it is securely positioned.

    Step 3: Position Chuck Block by inverting the chuck block over the well block, aligning the male arms of the chuck block with the female holes on the well block.

    Step 4: Allow the assembly to freeze, with the chuck block securely in place on top of the well block. If necessary, liquid nitrogen or freeze spray can be used to expedite the freezing process.

    Following these steps ensures that tissue samples are properly mounted and prepared for sectioning during Mohs surgery, allowing for accurate examination of tissue margins.
